Today is the launch of the the Bang! Short film festival here in Nottingham at the Broadway Cinema and Media Centre. This year the festival has nine categories and runs from the 23rd to 25th November. I’m curating for Source, a new festival category established to showcase films that depict and celebrate the experience and culture of African and African Caribbean Diaspora. Source will showcase an exciting selection of short films from local and international talent including Africa, St Lucia, Portugal and the UK. For more information see: Source and Bang! Film Festival
Highlights include the premiere screening of ROGUE ( 2012) , directed by Destiny Ekaragha and Katy Milner. Destiny Ekaragha’s first short film, TIGHT JEANS was funded by the Southern Exposure branch of Film London, was officially selected by the 2008 Times BFI London Film Festival and voted best short by The Observer. Destiny is currently directing her first feature film GONE TOO FAR funded by the BFI Film Fund and adapted from the stage play of the same name by Bola Agbaje.
