About Rachel Carter
Rachel Carter is an independent film producer with a track record of award-winning shorts including dramas and documentaries that have screened at festivals including Interfilm Berlin, Cinemagic Belfast and Greenhorn. Rachel is currently developing her first slate of feature films with her company Paperbird Productions. These include a coming of age drama with the director of Dear Frankie, Shona Auerbach, a romantic comedy with emerging writer/director Brian Harley (Short Night Films), and a present day British war film with writer/director Ben Cook (Anti/Type Films).
Rachel hopes to gain further knowledge, advice and shared experience from the network, in order to help support her step from shorts to feature films.
Prior to setting up Paperbird Productions, Rachel trained in producing with the BBC and ran an award-winning corporate production company for six years, for whom she produced television commercials and charity documentaries. Alongside this Rachel won several short film commissions from the UK Film Council through the Digital Shorts and Digital Plus schemes, which led to two Royal Television Society awards for Best Short and Best Production Craft as a producer.
Rachel very much enjoys creative collaboration during development, having trained in feature film script development with the Script Factory and participated in several industry development workshops, and looks forward to further collaboration within the FilmWorks network.
